Time for a break...

I'm not going to comment on the war, the prisoners of war or the casuaties. I can't. If I do, I will sit here and cry all day.

I'm going to talk about gardening.

So...I got up on top of the fridge and looked at the three trays of peat pots that John planted. There are like 30 peat pots per tray. I think maybe 10 total, out of all of them, have some kind of sprouting going on. I am quite disappointed.

I got a large packet of wildflowers at the store on base yesterday. I will plant those in one of the barrels today, maybe two. One in the front and one in the back? I still want my morning glories to bloom, so I'll have to get them planted soon. I definately have to do a seed inventory and see what John didn't use so that I can try and see what I've got left to plant.

I'm about done with the damn blubs in the front. The ones that had been in bloom are all so small and ya know, I'd like to use that space for something else now. I don't know if I'll have the gumption to just dig them up.

Anyone know much about lilac bushes? I bought three small ones last weekend but I am not sure where I can plant them. Do they have to have so many hours of sun per day? Full sun? Will they be OK with just morning sun?

I'm going to go outside and plant the veggies in the garden area today. I finally got a little fence thingy and some nice bracket thingys to keep it down in the grass. It should be high enough to keep out any critters that might want to munch on my veggies.

I'm also going to make a trellis or two for the tomatoes and flowers. I can probably wait on those for a few weeks, since nothing will be tall enough to need them yet.

I'm going to do things today that won't let me sit in front of the TV. Things that won't let me sit in front of the computer all day reading news sites. Things that will keep my mind occupied elsewhere, at least for a little while.
